| Customized Training It has been our experience in training that one size does not fit all. The Calumet Group can customize training to meet your specific needs. Customized training falls into two categories: 1) customized compliance training and 2) training specifically designed for a customer's operation. Customized Compliance Training - Often companies utilize generic, off the shelf training packages for government mandated training, such as OSHA training, EEOC training topics, team building, and management training. The Calumet Group has a series of these off the shelf training packages available; however, our customers have found this training is more effective when the courses have been customized to reflect the specific work environment of the company utilizing these courses. For example, when OSHA Mandated training is designed utilizing the company's policies, procedures, and the specific PPE and equipment used on the job, the employees see the direct application of the training to their work responsibilities. Training Specifically Designed for a Customer's Operation - Job specific training is the most common example of customized training. The Calumet Group can design training programs that address the specific training needs of your company. We have two job specific training systems - Right Start, designed for the service sector and The Learner Program, designed for manufacturing. In addition to job specific training, The Calumet Group can also design project specific training for plant start ups, rebuilds, company reorganizations, and/or special projects. | |||||||||
Right Start Training System | ||||||||||
| The Right Start Training System is an organized approach to analyzing and documenting the skills needed to perform the requisite duties of a job. The Right Start Training System is tailored for service sector jobs and is designed to guide new employees through the process of learning their new position. It is composed of a series of basic training support tools including: orientation sessions, overlap training with the predecessor, structured support from upper management, the Right Start Training Manual, and the Right Start Resource File. The Right Start Training System is currently being utilized to train new employees and cross-train current employees for the United States Army in South Korea. Each piece of the Right Start Training System has a specific and necessary function. The orientations serve as an opportunity to acquaint the new employee to company standards and policies. This is also when the new employee will receive their copy of the Right Start Manual. The Right Start Training Manual is a written guide to the various responsibilities associated with the position and is designed to provide a structure to help guide the new employee through the learning process. In union with the manual, the new employee will be introduced to the Right Start Resource File. The Right Start Resource File provides the new employee with past examples, contact list, standard operating procedures, and various other resources to aid the learning process and generate a deeper understanding of what is expected of them. Lastly, a structured support system from upper management is imperative to ensure that the new employee receives appropriate direction and guidance. The advantages of the Right Start Training System are evident once it is set in motion, but some of the benefits you can expect include reduced turnover rates, consistency of work performed, proper documentation of work performed, and superior job knowledge. Remember, no training manual can tell you everything you need to know about your position, but the Right Start Training System will inform the new employee what they need to know to get started, and if utilized correctly, will transform the employee into an expert at their job. | ||||||||||
The Leaner Program | ||||||||||
| The Learner Program is a comprehensive training strategy that utilizes your current on-the-job training structure to provide a complete, well-documented training program for any occupation. The Learner Program is tailored for technical/operation positions in the manufacturing industry and is designed to guide new employees through the process of learning their new position. Each learner receives a set of self-driven study modules that guide them through the qualification process for their specific position. It provides written resource material, ties the learning into ISO and QS quality documents, and provides both measurement of knowledge and skill. The Learner Program is currently being utilized to train new employees and cross-train current employees. Fundamentally, the Leaner Program is a written guide to the various responsibilities associated with the position and is designed to provide a structure to help guide the new employee through the learning process. The Learner Program study modules are organized in a manner that clearly outlines the responsibilities of the position. Each module is logically divided into a series of tasks which state the competencies that the learner will need to develop in order to properly perform the duties of the job. This includes: step-by-step instructions on how to complete the task, safety equipment needs, diagrams of control panels utilized, supplemental training materials, suggested training activities to sharpen skills and helpful information from past employees. Lastly, a structured support system from upper management is imperative to ensure that the new employee receives appropriate direction and guidance. The advantages of the Learner Program are evident once it is set in motion, but some of the benefits you can expect include reduced turnover rates, higher quality product, increased safety consciousness, proper documentation of the work performed, and superior job and process knowledge. Remember, no training manual can tell you everything you need to know about your position, but the Learner Program will inform the new employee what they need to know to get started and, if utilized correctly, will transform the employee into an expert at their job. | ||||||||||
